Proposed changes to the bylaws to meet the needs of the NHBA

NOTICE TO MEMBERS:

Below are the proposed New Hampshire Beekeepers Association By-Law additions which will be voted on at the October 19, 2024 Fall Meeting of the general membership. The additions are Article 3 Section 1 Part (g) and Article 12 regarding dissolution of the NHBA to meet the requirements of our 501(C)3 application.

ARTICLE 3

MEMBERSHIP

SECTION 1

There shall be seven (7) classes of membership in the Association.

(a) Active Single Membership shall consist of an individual who are in good standing in the Association;

(b) Active Family Membership shall consist of individuals and/or their immediate family members (spouse/children/partner who are in good standing in the Association;

(c) Single Life Membership shall consist of an individual who are in good standing in the Association;

(d) Family Life Membership shall consist of individuals and/or their immediate family members (spouse/children/partner who are in good standing in the Association;

(e) Bestowed Life Membership may be conferred upon a member upon recommendation by the Executive Committee and approved by a majority vote of its members at a regular Association meeting;

(f) Educational Membership shall consist of a student(s) studying apiculture as well as their teacher/sponsor is free and they shall not be eligible to vote.

(g) Individuals and/or businesses who are donating to the Association shall be considered Friend of Bees but are not eligible to vote (new in 2024).

ARTICLE 12

DISSOLUTION

Upon the dissolution of the Association, any remaining assets shall be used exclusively for section 501(c)(3) exempt purposes.
